BALLAN RESIDENTS SET TO BENEFIT FROM NBNs SUPERFAST BROADBAND
LIBERAL CANDIDATE FOR BALLARAT

Minister for Communications Mitch Fifield and Liberal Candidate for Ballarat Sarah Wade today announced that the nbn is right around the corner for Ballan residents, with the first connections to be available from next week.
Senator Fifield accompanied Ms Wade on a regional communications tour today, including a visit to Ballan on the eve of the nbn’s new fibre-to-the-node network being switched on.
“Superfast broadband is right around the corner for more than 1,300 homes and businesses in this growing regional hub,” Minister Fifield said.
“It’s an exciting time for residents in Ballan as they will be among the first Victorians to use nbn’s node-based fibre broadband from next Friday, 20 May,” Ms Wade said.
“It has been very pleasing to see nbn construction completed so quickly here in Ballan and I know many residents are eager to connect to the improved service as soon as possible.”
Under the Coalition’s faster rollout plan, the construction phase has taken only seven months from start to finish in Ballan.
“Importantly, Ballan residents have been spared the civil works damage and inconvenience that was a hallmark of the early stage NBN rollout under Labor,” Ms Wade said.
Depending on contractor availability, it typically takes around two weeks to connect up to the nbn after placing an order.
Ballan residents and businesses wishing to access the new nbn service will require a new modem from a retailer that is compatible with the faster vectored VDSL technology.
Under the Turnbull Coalition Government, the nbn is on-track to meet its Victorian rollout forecasts and the network is due to be completed nationally in 2020.
